Step 1: Install SMS Integration with iChat. SMS Integration with iChat for Android is different than apps like MightyText and Pushbullet since it provides native integration with Mac OS X, which means you'll get all of your SMS texts from Android in the Messages app on your Mac, and you'll be able to reply to them from either platform. For SMS to appear in Messages app in macOS, you need to have Text Message Forwarding turned on in your iPhone. It can be enabled by going to Settings apps → Messages → Text Message Forwarding on your iPhone and turning on the switch which appears against your macOS device in the list.

SMS Mac integrates seamlessly with your Contacts (previously called Address Book). With the SMS Mac Address Book plugin installed, you simply open the Contact card of your friend or family member, click the mobile label and choose the command Send SMS from the popup menu. You can also select a group of contacts and send an SMS to all members of the group!
SMS Mac also supports AppleScript. The SMS Mac Scripting application allows you to send an SMS when a specific event occurs. You can use it, for example, with iCal. You can configure iCal and SMS Mac to send yourself an SMS to remind you of an important meeting. On a Mac OS X server, you can use it to send the system administrator an SMS alert when a certain condition occurs. Several example scripts are included.

Try these steps first
After trying each step below, try to send a message again.
- Restart your Mac. Choose Apple menu > Restart, then click Restart.
- Make sure that your software is up to date. Learn how to update the software on your Mac.
- Make sure that your Mac is connected to the Internet. To check your Internet connection, try loading a page in Safari or another web browser.
- Check that the date and time is set correctly on your Mac.
- Make sure that you enter the correct phone number or email address for the contact.

If you see ‘This user is not registered with iMessage’
If you try to send a message and see an alert that the person isn’t registered with iMessage, the message is trying to send using SMS/MMS. Make sure Text Message Forwarding is set up and your iPhone is powered on.
If your contacts see your email instead of your phone number
If you can send messages but your contacts see your email address instead of your phone number, make sure that you're signed in to iMessage with the same Apple ID on all your devices. Learn how to add your phone number to Messages on your Mac.
